Rochedale State High School harnesses the engaging power of a variety of digital technologies to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of teaching and learning.
We take a blended approach to curriculum delivery, incorporating both face-to-face and digital resources to achieve our learning goals. All students are provided access to online textbooks and teachers incorporate a diverse selection of web-based resources to share content, create engaging learning activities, provide opportunities to apply learning in creative ways, check progress and understanding, and provide feedback.
Our world is becoming increasingly digital and technology is an essential part of life, work and study for our students. We believe that part of our job is ensuring our students are ready for their digital futures and we achieve this goal through our ongoing commitment to eLearning.
Access to Third Party Websites
The use of web based educational resources has risen steadily over the last decade and are increasingly being used by teachers across Queensland to improve student learning outcomes. Our school and teachers make decisions about the best technology to meet the needs of our students. Sometimes it is beneficial for students to utilise services provided by third party web-based providers.
We need your permission for the registration and use of these sites by your student. The privacy and security of our students is paramount. Rochedale State High School teachers work hard to ensure the web-based resources used in the classroom are safe and enhance the learning experiences of our students. The websites listed in the eLearning Permission Form have been reviewed for quality and security prior to being included on the list and we are confident that they pose minimal risk. All families are required to read and sign this permission form before students can interact with web-based resources.
In the Event of a School Closure
Rochedale State High School will support continuity of learning (maintain teaching and learning activities) in the event of circumstances that interrupt normal school attendance for students and/or staff. We are ready to transform our teaching and learning processes into an online curriculum should the need arise. As a BYOD school, we have engaged extensively with a strong eLearning agenda over the past four years and our staff already confidently use a broad range of web-based resources in their teaching practise.
The Rochedale SHS Online Learning Plan details the whole school procedures and expectations of students, parents and teachers that have been established in the event of teaching and learning at home. Please read this document carefully and support our school by adhering to the expectations.
