The aim of the Student Leadership Program is to ensure that students have a variety of opportunities to experience authentic, positive leadership roles and develop their potential, during their schooling journey from years 7 to 12. A culture of leadership is encouraged through the provision of positions of responsibility and specific projects, which are structured to allow students to experience and develop the skills needed to carry out assigned tasks and projects in an effective manner.
Leadership positions are available to students from all year levels, which focus on STUDENT WELFARE and COMMUNITY SERVICE. These include Sub Committees and Service Committees. An overview of these positions are represented on the Whole School Student Council Leadership Structure Document. A Full School Student Council, with representatives from each of the sub committees meets twice a term, chaired by the Year 12 President of the Student Council.
School leadership programs are more sustainable if leadership skills, knowledge, attitudes and values are encouraged through a structured leadership program. A series of Leadership Workshops, Peer Mentor training sessions and Leadership conferences are therefore provided throughout the year, to leaders from all cohorts in the school, to increase their knowledge, skills and confidence. A year 11 Leadership Camp also takes place in term 4 each year, to prepare the selected year 12 leadership team for the following year. The camp involves a variety of personal development and team building activities over three days of camp activities. Students also have the opportunity to attend conferences, camps and represent our school on Committees that are run by outside providers.
