In 2021, Rochedale State High school was successful in its application for a Homework Centre. The funding for the centre is provided by the State Government for four years. It commenced in Term 3, 2021. The centre is provided at our school at no cost to families. The program is intended to provide families with the option of supporting their child's learning, through after-school supervision by teacher aides.

The homework centre sessions will:

  • provide an opportunity for students to complete homework activities, assignments and activities to support school-based learning.
  • support students' learning, development and engagement in school; forge strong and supportive links between home and school.
  • ease the burden on students and parents by providing a supervised and supportive setting.
  • support students to develop good study habits and provide additional learning time for students with their peers.

Our goal is to evaluate the program and then expand our services, on a needs basis. I thank the community for your initial feedback and support of this opportunity.

The guidelines for the homework centre are:

  • Our homework centre is located in The Hub (N Block), which is a central location in the school and close to the 'drop and go' car park.
  • The centre will operate on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons, after school, from 3pm until 4pm. It recommences Term 1 Week 2 (30 Jan 2024) Bookings and Consent Required.
  • An after-school snack will be offered to the students.
  • Rules of the Homework Centre-
    • Students are expected to sign in on time at 3pm and stay for the duration until 4pm.
    • Students are to attend with planned homework and work independently.
    • Rochedale SHS school rules apply as per usual. For example, mobile phone, uniform and behaviour.
    • Teacher aides are not to instruct students or provide personalised tuition. Teacher aides will supervise students during the session only.
  • Absent students –
    • Students who are recorded absent from school on the day will also be considered absent from the Homework Centre booking.
    • Should a student be absent from their Homework Centre booking an SMS will be sent by 3:20pm.
  • To access the service – please follow the two-step process below:
  1. To secure a position access the SOBS booking link. https://eq.sobs.com.au/pt3/parent.php?schoolid=70381
