Indigenous Teacher Aide & School Pathways Officer

Rochedale SHS has a school wide approach to supporting our Indigenous students This support is coordinated and led by the Indigenous Teacher Aide and the School Pathways Officer.​

Student Support

  • Curriculum support in class, group tutorials, and one on one assistance
  • Provide information on job expos and University open days for senior students
  • Identify, submit and maintain QATSIF scholarships for eligible students
  • Facilitate school-based traineeships and apprenticeships
  • Organise and facilitate school-based cultural programs such - Deadly Choices, AIME, Gunya-Meta
  • Monitoring health and wellbeing in collaboration with Guidance Officers, school nurse/ATSICHS health checks, and external agencies
  • Organise cultural activities for Harmony Day, NAIDOC Week, Reconciliation Week
  • Facilitate connections with our local school Elders

 Family Support

  • Communication with families to monitor support needs
  • Sourcing of resources to support families as required
  • Provide information about external support agencies
  • Assist with referrals to external agencies

Teacher Support

  • Identification of individual learning needs of students
  • Collaboratively develop and implement adjustments to address learning needs
  • Organise professional development in embedding Indigenous perspectives across the curriculum areas​
