Indigenous Teacher Aide & School Pathways Officer
Rochedale SHS has a school wide approach to supporting our Indigenous students This support is coordinated and led by the Indigenous Teacher Aide and the School Pathways Officer.
Student Support
Curriculum support in class, group tutorials, and one on one assistance
Provide information on job expos and University open days for senior students
Identify, submit and maintain QATSIF scholarships for eligible students
Facilitate school-based traineeships and apprenticeships
Organise and facilitate school-based cultural programs such - Deadly Choices, AIME, Gunya-Meta
Monitoring health and wellbeing in collaboration with Guidance Officers, school nurse/ATSICHS health checks, and external agencies
Organise cultural activities for Harmony Day, NAIDOC Week, Reconciliation Week
Facilitate connections with our local school Elders
Family Support
Communication with families to monitor support needs
Sourcing of resources to support families as required
Provide information about external support agencies
Assist with referrals to external agencies
Teacher Support
Identification of individual learning needs of students
Collaboratively develop and implement adjustments to address learning needs
Organise professional development in embedding Indigenous perspectives across the curriculum areas
